1/30/15 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Sunday

I decided to do some investigating on other mom's who maybe going through the same thing as me with a fussy baby.  I just don't hear many parents talk about it - I don't if it's because it's quickly forgotten or because it's embarrassing to admit that you're having a tough time.  Either way, I'm very vocal and honest about what we're going through and for the past two weeks as you have read through my blogs my husband and I have been having a tough time.  What's even more annoying is that our son is good for my mom and my husband's mom all week long and by the evening and weekends he's extremely fussy with us.  Yesterday I was afraid to leave for a doctor's appointment because our son was so irritable before I left.  My husband is very capable and amazing dad but he doesn't have a lot of patience for endless crying.  I on the other hand, don't mind it.  I mean it stresses me out but during the crying I'm pretty laid back and try to just tackle whatever it is that's bothering him.  I'm definitely frustrated with the non-stop fussiness though.  It has completely altered our lives.  My husband and I pretty much haven't attempted another evening out with our son since Christmas.  He just gets overstimulated by 7 and needs his swaddle, blankie, some white noise, and soon after, his crib.  It just isn't worth it going out in the evenings right now with a child that is so upset.  Last night was my friend's birthday and of course, like clock work, we got to their house at 7 and he started screaming.  Luckily we're learning more about how to soothe our son and came prepared with the swaddle, pack-and-play, blankie, white noise, and monitor so we could enjoy ourselves.  But, it certainly is hard to relax when your son is so upset and you're away from his routine and environment.  I know he has to get used to this so we will continue to take him out but I sure wouldn't call this phase fun.  Everything I read online said that other parents had periods of this fussiness with their children and they swear it goes away! Undecided
